We asked peter to shed some light on how to plan a successful wedding, in his own words.
“In my many years being involved with thousands of weddings, first as an organiser and now as a toastmaster I’ve learned a thing or two ….or three or four and I want to pass on some of that wisdom in my top tips below.
But before I do that, let me first give you this advice.
The day is going to be stressful.
The weight of expectation enormous, everyone wants a perfect day.
Its a one off occasion – you are only going to do this once – you haven’t been here before and are not going to be here again.
It’s a massive undertaking.
You know who has been here before …me, and people like me.
Take your time to choose the right partners, be they venue, caterer or photographer. Take your time, investigate, test and then, trust them all to do their job and don’t stress or micro manage.
You took your time, made the right choices don’t second guess now when everyone is on an emotional red alert. “
Peter’s Top Tips For A Wonderful Wedding.
This is the big one, enjoy every minute, and if anything does go wrong remember in a years time, 5 years time, 10 years that thing that happened is going to make a great memory.
So smile and have great time.
Pick a date
And stick to it. The only bad decision is the one you don’t take.
Choose one that reflect what you stand for and check them out. Not when they are empty, but stress test them when they have a booking like yours. Feel the mood.
Check your policy very carefully for any ambiguous clauses that could mean claims being rejected.
Again check them out, ask for a tasting when another wedding has a similar menu. Really do your homework
Less is more. All eyes should be on the bride so keep it classy.
Hire a toastmaster.
Come on! What did you think I was going to say. Seriously though, me or one of my colleagues will help take the pressure off. We will make sure that everything runs smoothly, and to time, right through. You shouldn’t be without one.
Finally and very very important
I know I’ve said that once but it’s the most important thing.
Smile, eat, laugh and dance and you will have a truly memorable day.
